“Eagle in Flight” is one of the twelve buildings within the Magnet residential complex in Tirana.
“Eagle in Flight” was designed by architect Daniel Libeskind. The building’s form is an architectural translation of the national symbol, the eagle, expressed through a deconstructivist design language.
The 13-story tower has a crescent-shaped floor plan, rising with stepped terraces that culminate at a height of 45 meters on its western edge. The undulating façade and the pronounced silhouette of the top floor reflect the surrounding mountain ranges, visible from the city’s horizon through the terraces and balconies of each unit.
At street level, there are retail spaces and offices, as well as a pedestrian plaza. Each of the 115 units features south-facing living areas, where the window and door openings are designed in harmony with the balcony forms to maximize passive shading during the summer and allow low-angle winter sunlight to enter.
The green areas on the terraces help absorb heat and rainwater, while simultaneously creating green spaces for residents. The building was completed in 2014.
